CST - WISEstaff Solutions--Experience Questions

EXPERIENCE QUESTIONS:

• We have a teacher who was regular ed support the first year working in the district. Starting her second year here,  she starting teaching in the district.  Do we count the Student Learning Assistant position 3-Support-Regular Education in her LEA and Total Years of Experience?  Or do I only document the years teaching?  
  

• Years of Experience isn’t dependent on assignment, so you would count those years. It’s simply the total number of years working at an educational agency.

• When reporting years of service, we typically don't include student teaching.  I have a teacher who says her time student teaching was while working, and it's included in her pension. What should I do?

• Local years of Experience in this agency (LEA) are the years employed by an educational agency down to the half-year mark. Include time through the current school year. Include s

  taff members who have assignments that require contracts and include any experience working in that agency. This means any work, even as a janitor or intern.

• Years of Experience counts the number of years working at any educational agency down to the nearest half-year mark and including the current school year. This should also calculate time worked at both public and private schools. Include staff members who have assignments that require contracts and include any experience working in the educational field anywhere in the world. This means any work, even as a janitor or intern.

• Code paid interns as 53-0970.

• I have a music teacher who did two years of professional (post-college, with a teaching license) experience before now. It was an after-school program at only a 15 percent FTE.  Do we count these types of jobs (after-school programs) in their years of service?

• Years of Experience is the total years working for an educational agency, not based on assignment, so this time should be counted.
