Validation Warning 6593

Short Text: Special Education program association IEP begin date is missing or is invalid.

Long Text: Special Education program association IEP begin date is missing or is invalid. IEP/ISP begin date of Special Education program association is required and must be within the school year of this resource or immediately the previous school year.

 

NOTE: This record will still be included in your Oct 1 Child Count data, even with invalid dates.

ALSO NOTE: If you have a third-party, special education vendor tool, the IEP begin date must be sent to WISEdata using this third-party, special education vendor tool.

If you only use a main SIS, then submit the value from that main SIS.

How to Fix:

1. If the date is correct, simply acknowledge the warning.
2. If the date is incorrect, verify the correct date of the student’s most recent IEP evaluation/re-evaluation. This IEP date should be either in the current school year or the prior school year (i.e., last year).
   1. HOWEVER: If the student’s IEP has “expired” (i.e., date is not within the school year or previous school year), it is still valid and in force until the IEP re-evaluation.  Therefore, if special education services are still being provided and are following the expired IEP, then the sSEPA record will be counted in the Oct. 1 count.
3. Then enter the corrected date of the IEP begin date into the appropriate SIS:
   1. Use your third-party, special education vendor tool SIS, if you have one.
   2. Use your primary SIS to send the data if you do not use a special education SIS.  
4. Update with a push to WISEdata Portal.
   1. You can use the “Queue Manual Validation and Import” option in WISEdata Portal. If you enter your email, check that the value has updated in WISEdata Portal when you receive your email notification.
   2. You can wait for the overnight validation and check WISEdata Portal the following day.

1. Expand the gray “Programs” header to view the program records.
2. Expand the teal “Special Education” sub-header to view the:
   1. “IEP Begin Date” value

Example: Sam's record is returning Warning 6593 about a missing or invalid IEP begin date. District Deb looks into the matter and sees Sam last had an IEP evaluation April 1, 2025, but his record shows a date of April 1, 2023. Deb knows this date is too old and replaces it with the most recent, correct date of April 1, 2025, to remove the warning.
If Deb’s District uses a third-party special education vendor tool:

• Deb submits Sam’s IEP Begin date using the third-party special education vendor tool.

• Deb submits Sam’s IEP Begin date using primary vendor tool.

Technical Details:

• Business Rule Logic: IEPBeginDate of sSEPA is NOT within the school year of this resource or the immediately previous school year.
• This validation is functioning as intended (Currently not listed on the bug issues list).

This validation should be resolved prior to the December Student Snapshot.
