Short Text: Exit Type expected to be ‘Maximum Age’ (MA).

Long Text: Exit Type is expected to be 'Maximum Age'. Exit Type was blank or a value other than 'High School Completion', 'Prior Completion Credential', 'Compassion Exit', or 'Death' was submitted. The student's term completion indicator value is submitted as 'Yes', and the student's date of birth indicates that this is the last year of FAPE eligibility. This student has reached the maximum age for services and Term Completion Indicator, so Exit Type is expected to be 'Maximum Age' (MA).

Note: 22-2023SY onward PCC is removed from the exit type list and should not be used; PCC is valid exit type for 2021-2022 SY and prior.

Business Rule Logic: 2023 SY onwards : (Exit Type is NULL and Term Completion Indicator = Y and (birth date + 21 years) is between 9/1 to 8/31) OR (Exit Type present and not equal to "MA", "HSC", "DE" and Term Completion Indicator = true and (birth date + 21 years) is between 9/1 to 8/31)

Before 2023 SY: (Exit Type is NULL and Term Completion Indicator = Y and (birth date + 21 years) is between 9/1 to 8/31) OR (Exit Type present and not equal to "MA", "HSC", "PCC", "DE", "CE" and Term Completion Indicator = true and (birth date + 21 years) is between 9/1 to 8/31)

How to Fix: Error 6484 will throw if the Term Completion Indicator value is set to 'Yes' when the student age or exit type is incompatible. If you believe that 6484 has been thrown in incorrectly, please first check the Term Completion Indicator value you have submitted. Then, verify the student's age. Students can be serviced up until the age of 21. If a student turns 21 during the current school year, you may receive this error because the student has reached the maximum age and the system is now expecting an exit date and type. You can continue to service this student until the end of the school year when the student completes the school term, and the student's date of birth indicates that this is the last year of FAPE eligibility. DPI expects a maximum age exit type value at the end of the year. This student has reached the maximum age for services and Term Completion Indicator, so Exit Type is expected to be 'Maximum Age' (MA). The student can receive a High School Completion Credential if the student received a diploma.

Example: Alma is a Special Education student with an IEP at Heart High School. District Deb notices a maximum age error on Alma’s record and looks into the matter. Deb finds that Alma just turned 21 and realizes the system thinks she is too old to be in school and that an exit date and type are needed. Deb knows Alma can still be serviced until the end of the school year. At the end of the year, Deb will enter an exit type of Max Age to clear the error.
