Long Text: The student’s age as of the Third Friday of September is outside expected range for this grade. The student's age on the Third Friday of September is determined using the student’s birth date from WISEdata.  If the student’s grade level is incorrect, update your student information system. If the student’s birth date is incorrect, correct the birth date in your student information system and WISEid. If the student’s grade level and birth date are correct, acknowledge the warning.

How to Fix: You'll receive this warning if the student’s age as of the Third Friday of September is older or younger than the expected age range for this grade level; for example, a 14 year-old student is in grade 12. DPI pulls the student's age on the Third Friday of September from the student’s birth date in WISEdata. Verify the student's birth date and grade level.
  • If the student’s grade level is incorrect, update the student's grade level in your SIS.  
  • If the student’s birth date is incorrect, correct the birth date in your SIS and in WISEid. Make sure the values match in all locations. 
  • If the student’s grade level and birth date are both correct, you do not need to change any data and can simply acknowledge the warning.

Example: District Deb receives a warning that Keri's age doesn't fall within the expected age range for her grade. Deb looks into the situation and sees Keri is in grade six at the middle school but only age 8. Deb verifies the birth date and grade level and learns Keri was advanced to the middle school early due to her accelerated learning capacity and test scores. Both the birth date and grade level are accurate, so she acknowledges the warning.

If  Grade = PK and age is not >= 2 and <=5
     Grade = K3 and age is not  >=3 and <=4
     Grade = K4 and age is  not > = 4 and  < =5
     Grade = KG and age is not  > = 5  < =7
     Grade = 01 and age is  not > =5 and < =8
     Grade = 02 and age is  not > = 6 and  < =9
     Grade =03 and age is not > =7 and <=10
     Grade =04 and age is  not> =8 and <=11
     Grade =05 and age is not > =9 and < =12
     Grade =06 and age is not > =10 and < =13
     Grade =07 and age is  not > =11 and < =14
     Grade =08 and age is not > =12 and <=15
     Grade =09 and age is not > =13 and < =16
     Grade =10 and age is not > =14 and < =17
     Grade =11 and age is not  > =15 and <=18
     Grade =12 and age is not > = 16 and < =21
Age is calculated based on count date and birth date.
