Short Text: Missing World Language (WL) course from grade levels KG to 12.

Long Text: This school has not submitted a World Language Course. School Districts are required to offer access to a WL course that allows students to study a foreign language.

  • Schools with grade levels KG to 6 should confirm whether World Language courses are offered, and may acknowledge the warning.
  • Schools with grade levels 7 to 12 are required by statute to provide instruction in one or more world languages at each grade level. to resolve this warning, check the student's grade level and the course code, and correct whichever is incorrect.

How to Fix: This warning throws for schools that are expected to offer World Language programs to their students. To fix this, ensure that your school is associated with WL course codes that align with the grade levels offered at your school. For example, schools with grades 7-12 should use the NCES course code 24 / SLWL to represent secondary-level World Language programs. Also, ensure that you have the correct number of students enrolled in the courses entered.

NOTE: Warning 7191 is combining with 7122 for 2023-24SY and going forward.

Example: Teacher Nancy teaches Spanish at Amelia Earhart High School which teaches 9th - 12th-grade students. She received warning 7191, indicating that her school was not offering courses associated with the ‘World Language’  program, specifically under the NCES subject area code 24. Teacher Nancy checks the code for her course offerings in her SIS and sees that the course code is indicated by the correct subject area indication of ‘24 - World Language’. However, she also noticed that the number of students associated with her course was zero, likely a data entry warning. Teacher Nancy confirms the correct student count for her course and that this course is associated with the 9th-grade students she teaches. When she updates the number of students taking her course, it clears the warning.

Technical Details:
Business Rule Logic:

  • For any active school not in DOC, DHS, CMO, CCDEB, NDC or identified as DET
  • For each grade level at the school from KG to 12.
  • Throw if no student from that grade level is enrolled in a course identified as World language
