Warning 7442 - Discipline Date for Suspension Outside the Enrollment Period

Short Text: The 'Discipline Date' for the suspension is outside the enrollment period.

Long Text: The 'Discipline Date' for the suspension is outside the enrollment period.  To correct the warning, either change the date on which the discipline action started to align with the student's enrollment in the school, or change the enrollment dates.

How to Fix: This warning appears if the date entered for disciplinary action of in-school suspension (IS) or out-of-school suspension (OS) occurs after an enrollment period has ended, meaning that the student is being suspended after a term of school has completed. Suspensions and other disciplinary actions must occur during the school enrollment period. To clear the warning, ensure that the dates entered for both: (1.) the enrollment term, and (2.) the discipline action have been correctly entered. Correct dates as needed, so that the discipline action date falls within the student’s enrollment period.

Example: School Staff Member Satya receives Warning 7442, indicating a problem with the date that was provided for one of their homeroom students who was given an IS. Satya logs into their SIS to see the date provided for the IS - October 25th. Satya then calls their school’s front office to confirm the accuracy of this date.  During this phone call, Satya learns the date they entered into the SIS was incorrect because it was a date outside of the enrollment period, which ended on October 5th. Satya enters the correct date for the IS - September 25th - clearing the error.

Technical Details:

Business Rule Logic: Throw on disciplineAction when disciplineDate is not between enrollment (SSA) entry and exit date of the school AND the disciplineDescriptor is either 01 'In School Suspension' or 02 'Out of School Suspension'.
