Short Text: A student section exists with a certified career education program, but the certificated program status has not been submitted per Student.

Long Text: A student section exists with a certified career education program, but the certificated program status has not been submitted per Student.

NOTE: Error 7461 will be applicable for the 2022-23 school year, and will replace  Error 7164, which will apply to data from the 2021-22 school year and prior school years. These L2s are very similar - they will throw when a student associated with a certified/certificated CE Program type sufficiently attempts a class. However, 7461 ‘upgrades’ the Logic to ensure there is also a certificated Program status indicator included.

Rule 7461:

  • checking that a certifiedCareerEducationProgram

  • on a studentSectionAssociation where the

  •  attemptStatus is sufficient, it has an associated

  • studentCTEProgramAssociation of the same type of association as the studentSectionAssociation AND

  • that the Program has a value for the certificatedProgramStatus.

How to Fix: This warning displays when WISEdata detects a student section with a certified Career Ed Program, and when a certificated Program status is ‘NULL’ (blank).

Verify in your SIS, whether the /studentCTEProgramAssociation record is submitted for each student or not. When submitted, ensure that the certificated program status is given for each student. If certificated program status is missing, then re-submit that /studentCTEProgramAssociation record to WISEdata Portal.

Steps: The Certificated Program Status must be submitted by the school holding the Primary enrollment type. All IRCs and WBL are counted in the school holding the Primary enrollment record. If the certificated Program status type is submitted through the school that has Coursework enrollment, the error will not clear.

Make sure the following steps are completed for each individual student:

  1. First, verify that the student has a CTE Program association record submitted *per student* in your SIS.

  1. If the student does not have a CTE Program association, enter this information in your SIS, then resubmit to WISEdata Portal through a manual validation or by waiting for the nightly validation to run, and check it the next day.

  1. Next, if the CTE Program association record *is* submitted, make sure the student’s Certificated Program Status (this is called Certified Program Status in WISEdata Portal when looking at a Student Details screen) has been submitted. Then resubmit to WISEdata Portal through a manual validation or by waiting for the nightly validation to run, and check it the next day.

    1. NOTE: Course enrollments submitted with an associated certified Career Education Program also require that you submit a certificated Program status type at the conclusion of the course.

    2. NOTE: ‘Certificated’ and ‘certified’ are both terms used to refer to Certified Career Ed Programs.

  2. If the CTE Program association record is *NOT* submitted, please do so, and then ensure that all subsequent information as described above is also submitted.

  3. NOTE:  To see if the Coursework school submits the certificated Program status, double check WISEdash for Districts>Snapshots>Career Education and Coursework>Technical Skills Attainment Student Participation>filter by School, students’ Primary enrollment and use the Certificated Program Status filter within the crosstab.

Example: School Staff Member Sally, sees Error 7461 appear on WISEdata Portal for Student Tiffany Traeger. Staff Member Sally looks in her SIS to investigate. School Staff Member Sally looks up Student Tiffany and sees that she has taken a number of CTE courses, and confirms that  Tiffany does have a CTE Program association record. Most recently, Tiffany Traeger was enrolled in Teacher Bob’s ‘Mechatronics’ course, which is associated with a certified Career Ed Program in Manufacturing.

School Staff Member Sally also confirms on her SIS that Student Tiffany successfully passed this course.

Student Tiffany, however, was incorrectly marked as having “Exited” her Certificated/Certified Program Status. School Staff Member Sally changes this status from “Exited” to “Continuing”.  She then triggers a manual validation in WISEdata Portal, to get quick confirmation that the changes she made in her SIS will clear this Error. School Staff Member Sally also makes sure to also check the box to “Notify me when validation is complete.” School Staff Member Sally gets an email a few hours later, and checks WISEdata Portal to see that the Error is indeed resolved.

Example 2: If the Error above was not resolved, and the Career Ed course in question was taken through another school holding Student Tiffany’s Coursework enrollment (i.e., a school where Tiffany held a Coursework enrollment).

School Staff Member Sally could check to see if that other school submitted the coursework by checking WISEdash for Districts, following the steps given in 3b above.

Technical Details:

Business Rule Logic: Throw on the /studentSectionAssociationwhen a student section Program exists with a certified CE Program type AND attempt status = Sufficient AND (SCTEPA is missing for the same certified Program OR  Certificated Program Status(SCTEPA)= NULL for the same Program).
