Short Text: Invalid 'Discipline', Placement in IAES by School Personnel, for this behavior.

Long Text: Invalid 'Discipline', Placement in IAES by School Personnel, for this behavior.  The discipline 'Placement in IAES - School Personnel', is valid only for two cases: when the primary behavior is Handgun, Shotgun or Rifle, Other Firearm, Drug-Related, or Dangerous Weapon - Not Firearm or, alternatively, when the primary behavior is Assault and Serious Bodily Injury is Yes.

NOTE: Error 7454 is replacing Error 6677 for the 2023-24 school year going forward due to a change in behavior data collection endpoint association.

How to Fix: First verify the primary behavior the student exhibited in the incident. Note that only behaviors of:

  • Handgun,

  • Shotgun or Rifle,

  • Other Firearm,

  • Drug-Related,

  • Dangerous Weapon - Not Firearm, or

  • Assault with Serious Bodily Injury as Yes

would qualify for placement in IAES by School Personnel. If the student did not have a primary behavior of one of the above, then remove the invalid discipline and enter a more appropriate action to clear the error.

Example: District Dylan notices an error on Fonzie’s record that he has an invalid Discipline of Placement in IAES by School Personnel. Dylan looks into the situation and finds that Fonzie was caught drinking in the back of the school and is consequently documented with an alcohol-related behavior. Dylan knows alcohol-related is not a behavior that can be submitted with a discipline of IAES placement by school personnel, so they remove that invalid discipline. Dylan verifies what happened with the school and then enters a valid discipline action of out-of-school suspension.

Technical Details:

Business Rule Logic: Throw if Discipline (DisciplineActions endpoint) = Placement in IAES by School Personnel AND BehaviorDescriptor (studentDisciplineIncidentBehaviorAssociation endpoint) is "Endangering Behavior", "Alcohol-Related", "Other Violation of School Rules," OR “Assault” and "seriousBodilyInjury" = FALSE
